how to install your Flip Shelf

Congratulations on the purchase of your Flip Shelf! Before you install the shelf on your wall, here are some general pointers:

We’ve included a few fasteners that may work for the mounting bracket. Always use screws/anchors that are suitable for your wall. Always check to make sure there is no hidden wiring, plumbing, or other services in the wall before making holes. This is a light duty shelf. Do not overload. A sturdy shelf depends on mounting the bracket securely to the wall. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch info@cut-fold.com

Your Flip Shelf has been finished with an all-natural oil that is water resistant but not waterproof. Never soak with cleaners or leave wet items on the shelf. Wiping with a dry or lightly-damp microfibre cloth should keep it looking great. This shelf is for interior use only.

the bracket

The bracket for your Flip Shelf is tucked in the back. Pull out the foam piece to remove it.

the layout

The centreline of the holes for the bracket is 67mm below the top surface of your shelf. Decide how high you want the shelf to end up and use a level to mark a line 67mm below.

mark the holes

Use the bracket to mark where the holes will be on your horizontal line. The bracket has extra holes so you have options – but make sure you fasten through at least 2 or 3 holes. If there is a stud in the wall behind where the shelf will go, be sure to put a screw at that location. If you need to use screw anchors (i.e. because you’re installing on drywall and there are no studs at that location), continue to the next step. If you have a solid surface behind that will hold screws securely by themselves, skip to the fasten the bracket step.

install the plugs

Drill the wall at the locations you’ve marked for screw anchors that are suitable for your wall. The plugs we include with the Flip Shelf require a 1/4″ (6mm) hole. You can use any screw/anchor you like, as long as the screw head will sit below the surface of the bracket.

hang the shelf

Lift the Flip Shelf above the bracket and slide it down the wall until the bracket hooks on the back. Slide it side to side until the bracket engages with the recess on the back of the shelf.

check it

When the Flip Shelf is engaged properly on the bracket, it will sit fairly tightly and parallel to the wall. Look down the wall to check. If the shelf looks skewed, slide it to the left or the right until the bracket sits fully within the recess on the back and the shelf is parallel to the wall.

enjoy!

If you ordered the Flip Shelf with the integral LED, plug in the supplied power adapter and connect it to the shelf. The light can be used when the shelf is up as well as down.
